A business card is a mini poster that must stand out on a crowded highway. In addition to having your contact information, your business card needs to have some theme - or meme - that makes an impression. Here are some design ideas that might help you stand out!
Starting with low cost ideas like how you select your layout. Traditional card design is horizontal, while others use a vertical design. A vertical design offers the opportunity to add a photograph at the top of the design that can either fade into the contact info or provide a dark background for reverse type with the contact info.
Stepping away from either horizontal or vertical - is to place your design on an angle. Think of ways to use the angular corners as design elements and place your graphics so the the card is held at an angle to be read.
Think in 3 dimensions. Through the use of shadowing and block design elements you can give your card depth. In addition to making your card memorable, make your card valuable by providing information important to your target audience. Things like the sports schedule for a local team or a receipe.
